Yesterday was a beautiful sunshine filled day here at Goldeye!
We started our day, of course, with another fabulous breakfast then it was on to a game called Elves Gold, which was an introduction to our lesson on de-escalating conflicts and blowing off steam. This Social Skills lesson helped campers understand different emotions and feelings. It also gave an opportunity for them to come up with strategies for when they feel overwhelmed, anxious, upset or angry.
The morning activity was basketball games. After lessons and basketball games, campers then came in for lunch. Many were happy because lunch was chicken fingers and fries. We moved on to an exciting game of bucket ball. This game uses a lot of communication and teamwork. It was awesome seeing all the campers working so well together! We moved into the field house to get out of the sun for a little bit. We played crazy lines and did the human knot, both of which required a lot of problem solving.
By this time, we were all ready for a cool down and so we headed to the lake. We spent two hours at the lake swimming, canoeing and paddle boarding. Before dinner, campers had a little bit of free time. Dinner was spaghetti and sundaes for dessert.
In the evening, we played a game of Prey and Predator in the forest. We ended the evening with singing a few songs and enjoying popcorn for night snack. It was a busy day at camp so I have not yet had a moment to get pictures up, but they will be on here as soon as possible.
All the best,
Dori
