Overnight Camp 2 - Tuesday

August 13

Hello from Camp Amicus! For some, our day began with Polar Bear Dip, for others, today began with breakfast. Those of us who went horseback riding left immediately after breakfast was done. We moved as a group to camp-wide game though, which today was Human Tracker. This large-scale game involves 5 'trackers' let loose into the woods (with clearly established, monitored boundaries, safety first) to find the rest of our team, the humans. If one is found, they have the option to run, but if one is tagged, they too must join the trackers.

We then moved to social skill. Today's skill was Leadership. Campers identified both good and bad traits of a leader, identified some leaders in their own lives, and then each had the opportunity to act as a leader in various activities.

We had a half hour of free time after this, and then lunch! Afterwards, we moved to skill block. There was some intermittent thunder during this time, so the group that was set to canoe didn't get the full time, but they made it a good time nonetheless! Gagaball was a popular alternative activity.

After skill block, we returned to our bunks for rest hour, and then we had choice. Our choices today were Gagaball, photography, earring making and assorted field games! Given that it had just rained, all of our Gagaball pits were quite muddy, and as a result, our campers came back muddy, too. We then had a half hour of free time before dinner, after which we donned long sleeves and pants and moved to our second camp-wide game

Our second camp-wide game today was Hydro Pyro, a verified camp classic, which happens to be another capture the flag style game, with a unique Camp Amicus twist: each team has a fire that they must try to keep lit! If a player makes it to the other team's side, they have a small amount of water with which to dump on the fire, and a few designated individuals must do whatever they can to keep it lit. We love hydro pyro!

Once the sun had begun to set and we were all tired of the mosquitoes, we headed back to our bunks and got ourselves ready for bed.
