Overnight Camp 1 - Day 5

Hello!

It was a fabulous last full day of camp. There is still more to come tomorrow before we hop on the bus and head home. We will have our Closing Camp Ceremony where campers will be given their Camper Progress Reports and Awards so be sure to ask about those when you see them.

As I said, today was great! We started with breakfast, which of course was wonderful. From there, we split into four different groups and began our rotation of activities. The rotational activities were horseback riding, games in the field, transfiguration class and social skills. In social skills today, campers talked about bullying. We stopped for lunch and then went back to our activities.

After each group had done all the activities, we went down to the waterfront. It was a perfect day to go swimming and take out some boats as it was a hot one! The sun has been shining all day!

Once we were done at the lake, we had some free choice time. During free choice today, campers could prepare for the talent show, go to a potions class, play games in the field or have down time in their cabins. After free choice, we played another game of capture the flag (since it was a crowd favorite from last night).  We then prepared for the talent show and next thing we knew it was dinner time. It was our last dinner together and we sang our Etiquette Song for the final time at camp. To wrap up our night, we watched the campers (and a few counsellors) in a spectacular talent show. Talents included juggling, singing, airplane flying, recorder playing, magic. dancing, acting and more. Campers also got to pie the counsellors which they always love.

Something we have been doing at camp that I haven't talked about on the blog is called For The Good Of The Group. This is something that is new to Camp Amicus this year. We have been doing it at the end of campfire. It is a chance for campers and counsellors to say "thank you" or show appreciation for one another. This last one was amazing and the things said were filled with kindness. We have had an amazing four days, I've seen campers make new friends and really enjoy their time with us, as we have with them!

See you tomorrow,
Dori
