Good Morning From Camp!
We apologize for the late post for our first day! The internet we use to post on went wonky, just before we were getting ready to write our post.
Yesterday, we all loaded up on the bus to come to camp. The bus ride was full of movies, games and new friends.
Once we were at camp, our campers did a picture scavenger hunt, to find all of the different places we have at camp. They found their bunks, the wash house, the dining hall, the waterfront and more. Of course, part of the scavenger hunt was picking
Once we finish our scavenger hunt, campers head to their cabins to find their bunks - we label these along with their camp shirts, so that our campers know we are have been awaiting their arrival. Our lovely consellors help campers get set up on their bunks, to make sure that our campers are comfortable and have their own space.
After our bunks are set up, our counsellors lead something called a cabin contract. This lets our campers talk about what helps them be successful at camp, and what things other campers and counsellors can be aware of to support each other. I got to sit in on our girls cabin contract - it was awesome to hear how open they all were to each other, and its only the first day of camp!
For dinner, the lovely Goldeye staff serving spaghetti, meat balls, caesar salad and garlic bread. To say the least, there were a lot of empty plates. Our kitchen staff are amazing and making sure that anyone with a dietary need or restriction gets amazing meals and snacks, that look like everyone else's cabins, but are different.
To finish up our day, we had a great campfire, with s'mores, songs and even a funny "morning routines" skit from two of our counsellors.
It was a great first day at camp, and I am excited for our first full day!
Off to breakfast for me.
All the best (from camp),
Kathleen Gurski/Quack Quack
