Day Camp 1 - Friday

Greetings from camp,

It was a very creative Friday today, as we spent much of the day creating and making. After our usual morning routine of Zones of Rcheck-inn check in, we played Temple of Doom for the camp wide game and then had a snack and made our daily goals. Once that was complete, we split into our head counsellor groups for today’s Social Skill. We did a continuation of yesterday’s Entering and Exiting Conversations with a particular focus on exiting. We played a variety of games and created crafts and had a very fun time.

Next, we split up into our clubs. Art club continued their mural from Monday and Wednesday, Music club explored and practiced songs on a variety of instruments, and sports club played a new game. We then had a bit of free time and then had lunch.

Today’s Choice programming was especially fun. Campers chose two of baking, gardening, and dodgeball. For dodgeball, due to the hot weather, we used sponges dipped in water and had a dodgeball water fight. The baking group made cupcakes and rice crispies, and the gardening group gathered fresh mint from the community garden and made refreshing mint lemonade. We ended the day with Steps in the Right Direction and our afternoon Zones check in.

We hope everyone has a lovely long weekend and we can’t wait to see you back on Tuesday. We’ll be heading to Southland Leisure Centre for a great day of swimming!

Have a nice weekend,

Pippin
