July 4
Happy Thursday!
We began our day with a zones of regulation check-in and 2:6
time, and shortly after, moved to Camp-wide Game. Today’s Camp-wide Game was
the camp classic Dress the Beast, a capture the flag style game. Each team has
a Beast, dressed in many layers of clothing. If a player can make it to the
other team’s Beast without getting tagged, they can remove one layer of the Beast’s
clothing for their own team. Counsellor Brotula described Dress the Beast as “a
good show.”
After we were all exhausted from camp-wide game, we moved to
Social Skill, and then Clubs. At Camp, we have four clubs: Music, Art, Cooking
and Sports. In cooking club, campers collaborated to make dough for pretzels,
which they then were free to shape. Campers in Art Club had access to colouring
pages, blank paper, and a variety of coloured pencils and markers. Nonetheless,
the most popular activity was paper airplane making. By the end of Art Club,
there were more paper airplanes than we knew what to do with!
After lunch, we got ready to leave for Flying Squirrel! At
Flying Squirrel, we brought a GoPro, which we clipped to campers’ t-shirts.
Many of our campers made use of the GoPro over the afternoon. Campers had
access to the entire facility, including climbing walls, foam pits, and so many
trampolines!
It was a hectic time, with both counsellors and campers
coming back to Foothills Academy sweaty.
We ended our day with a quick Zones of Regulation check-in
before dismissal.
