July 11
It was a busy day at camp!
Today we spent most of our time at Calaway Park, leaving soon after our daily first thing Zones of Regulation check-in. Boarding the bus around 10, we had established a meeting/lunch spot and were ready to head to the rides before 11.
Much like the zoo last week, we split into groups of 1:3. Leadership assigned campers to counsellors in accordance to the ride preference sheets we filled out last week. As such, campers who dislike spinning rides were together, as were campers who would prefer to avoid slow rides.
Many of the groups that I tagged along with today had a clever system in place: each group member got to pick a ride they wanted, and they would depart as a group to whichever ride was closest.
Today, it got very hot. Sunscreen and full water bottles were a must, and Calaway Park staff were happy to fill us up with ice water. The heat also meant that Timber Falls (The Log Ride) as well as Bumper Boats, both rides in which one gets soaked, were particularly popular. Many of us rode the roller coaster as well.
At approximately 1pm, due to a dead camera battery, I opted to step into the shoes of a counsellor. My apologies for a lack of pictures today.
We boarded the bus back to Foothills Academy close to 3pm, and after arriving, we concluded our day with a Zones of Regulation Check-in and games on the playground.
