Day camp 1 - Wednesday

July 10

Can you believe we’re getting close to the end of the week?

Our day today began with our Zones of Regulation check-in, and we transitioned soon after to camp-wide game, which today was hostage. Hostage is another camp classic that is very similar to capture the flag. In hostage, though, campers had to bring back a hidden teammate instead of a hidden flag. It was a great way to start the morning!

The theme of our social skill today was Digital Communication, and our friends in Polaris joined us. Polaris is a leadership program for 13+. They assisted our campers in social skill, and got to spend Clubs time with us as well. I ran dress up and a photo booth in art club during this time.

Clubs took us close to lunch, with some free time beforehand. After lunch, it was time for Choice. Our choices today were water games outside, coding in the gym, Bollywood dance in our camp room, and making bird feeders and crafts in the upstairs art room. Unsurprisingly, those of us who spent time in water games ended up absolutely soaked. We set up a slip and slide with inflatable bowling pins at the end, and to conclude our choice block, we had a big water fight!

Choice was our last program for the day, but that wasn’t the end of the excitement. After our Zones of Regulation check-in and Steps in the Right Direction, our wonderful counsellor Brotula took a pie to the face as part of a camp tradition.

It was a definite highlight of my day. We are heading to Calaway park tomorrow!
