Day Camp 2 - Tuesday

July 16

Today began with a Zones of Regulation check, as everyday does at Camp Amicus. Having Zones of Regulation begin and every day is an important part of camp culture. Giving each other an understanding of how we are feeling first thing in the morning allows us an understanding of how to proceed with the day.

Our camp-wide game came after. Today, we played a gym-wide game of dodgeball. We began with two even teams of campers and counsellors, afterwards playing counsellors against campers.

In Social Skill, we focused on SMART goals. This is an acronym that stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timely. This methodology of goal-setting is one that we incorporate during our goals every day. This took us until 11.

We had clubs afterwards. At Camp Amicus, we have four clubs: Sports, Art, Music and Cooking. Campers are free to choose which club they attend, and we run clubs 3-4 times a week. Sports club played giant kickball, Art club had free use of a number of art supplies, Music club saw counsellor Ember teach ukulele, and Cooking club began work on miniature cakes.

After clubs, campers had half an hour of free time, and then it was time for lunch. Afterwards, we boarded the bus for Flying Squirrel.

We had approximately 90 minutes of time at Flying Squirrel, wherein we had the entire park available. It was a hectic 90 minutes, with both campers and counsellors coming back tired and sweaty.

We wrapped up our day with a quick Steps in the Right Direction outside, and a Zones of Regulation check-in before sign-out.
