The sun was shining this morning as we woke up and headed for breakfast prepared by the talented Goldeye staff. Finishing our first delicious breakfast we played a round of Fools Gold and Gold Rush, camp wide games that involve lots of running and team work to wake us all up! We also had an impromptu conga line going at one point this morning that was a great surprise, we are all having so much fun already. We then moved into our Embredor and Firesong House Teams to begin our Social Skills and Activity. The Social Skills lesson today was focused on problem solving. In this lesson campers worked together to untangle a human knot and get all their team members to safety in a game called Rescue Island. The morning activity was tie dye, campers had the chance to add some beautiful color and design to their Camp Amicus t-shirt.
Next came lunch, we took some time to digest and then we were excited to head down to the lake for some swimming. The water was a bit chilly at first but it warmed up as you got use to it. We came back from swimming and had some free choice time. During this time campers could pick from hanging out in their cabins, socializing in the common area outside of our cabins and playing games in the field house.
After free choice time was over we broke into small groups to do a rotation of activities; Groups went through an obstacle course, made wands, played cards, did some improv games and got to know one another better during icebreakers. We all worked up quite an appetite after such a fun day so we headed inside for some well deserved dinner which was delicious and afterwards we played a game called Manhunt. The night ended with another energetic campfire. At tonight's campfire the team with the most House Points won the Spirit Award, points are awarded for all sorts of things such as teamwork, positive social skills and helping out around camp.
We are happy to report another awesome day at Goldeye the campers are all doing amazing, I am so glad to see friendships starting and everyone having a great time.
Take Care,
Dori
