Wow! It has been another fantastic day at camp. We were lucky to see the sun come out for the entire day. It was an early morning for us here at camp, but the pancakes made it worth getting out of bed. Following breakfast we played an intense game of Bucket Ball, this is one of my all time favorite games that we play at camp because it is always amazing to see how campers supported their teams in this game. Bucket Ball tied in nicely to our Social Skills Lesson on Teamwork, in this lesson campers talked about what a team looks like and the strengths each individual brings to a team. The morning activity was a "Defense of the Dark Arts" class. This Harry Potter inspired activities gets campers thinking of strategies they can use to overcome their fears and anxieties. It was great to see campers taking a leadership role in this activity.
After lunch we got ready for some programming with Goldeye. Half the group did high ropes and the other half did giant swing, campers did a really great job supporting each other and encouraging each other to try things that felt outside their comfort zone. After these activities we had a bit of free choice time. When this time came to an end we headed to the waterfront for swimming, canoeing and paddle boarding. We were having such an awesome time that we went right until dinner time. Today for dinner we got to eat outside on picnic tables, which was a nice change from the dining hall. It also meant we got to enjoy the end of the sunshine for the day. We had a birthday cake for dessert as we have three campers with birthdays this week. Next we headed to the field for a game of Prey and Predator. Campers really seemed to enjoy this game. We ended our night with campfire. At campfire today campers shared jokes and puns. A team won the Spirit Award and we went to bed after a long day. Tomorrow has many more adventures and activities planned.
Enjoy your day,
Dori
