It was a hot day at camp! This morning we had breakfast in our pajamas and after breakfast got ready for the exciting day ahead. We started our day with a fun game of kickball. This brought us into our Social Skills lesson today on De-Escalating Conflicts and Blowing Off Steam. Today we did the lesson as a big group to allow for campers to pick between a variety of activities that might be strategies to blow of steam. Campers got to try out splatter painting with water balloons, making stress balls, creating a comforting tool (gems with messages on them) that they can hold onto, singing, dance party and soccer. These activities brought us to lunch, which was once again as tasty as ever. Lunch also included a impromptu dance party. Following lunch we got ready for another afternoon of Goldeye activities. Groups switched today and now all campers have had the chance to try the Giant Swing and High Ropes Course. Everyone was so supportive and they all jumped at the opportunity to pull myself, Dori, up on the Giant Swing. It has been great seeing campers face their fears, push through their anxieties and support one another. It was such a warm day we thought it would be best to hit the lake. So we did just that. Canoeing and swimming occurred and it was very refreshing on this gorgeous day. After waterfront we were hungry and ready for supper. Since it was a camper favorite we played another round of Capture the Flag for our camp wide game. We ended our night with campfire. Something we are doing at the end of each night is called For The Good Of The Group. This is a time for campers and counsellors to say thank you or give appreciation for someone or something someone did that day. This creates a great camp community.
Bye for now,
Dori
