Our first week of Day Camp two is almost over and we cannot believe it, time really does fly when you're having fun!
Today's focus was on various forms of communication including verbal, non-verbal and digital as well as the use of appropriate humor in social situations. These social skills can be very challenging for many people and it was great to watch our campers putting in their best effort to learn new skills!
We began the day with a camp wide game of Bucket Ball that was a great hit. We then transitioned into our social skills and activities that included painting, paper lanterns, handball and parachute games. These activities gave campers the opportunity to practice communicating using various techniques.
Our afternoon had different choice activities. Campers are encouraged to choose how they wanted to spent their time this afternoon, Be that playing Basketball, Cardio Pictionary, Frisbee Golf or Tag games. No matter what they chose they were able to be outside having lots fun through physical activities. To wind down we included some free time near the end of the day and then spent some time checking in with each other in our small groups.
Tomorrow we head to Calaway and the excitement is palpable! Don't forget to wear your camp shirt!
