Overnight 1: Day 4
Good evening from Camp!
What an amazing day we have had so far. Our campers were treated to a breakfast that included a pancake buffet, with so many options, every camper was happy with their breakfast.
We moved right along into goal setting, which we do every morning. Our campers have support from our counsellors to decide what goal they would like to have for the day, and how to accomplish it. Campers get to display their goal on our big Camp Amicus Goals board. Once camper complete their goal, they move their goal to the big "Completed" area. To say the least, the completed section is very full!
We played predator and prey for our morning camp wide game, before moving into our social skill of de-escalating conflict. Our campers did a great job of working through different tools (like "I feel" statements) during our social skills program today.
This afternoon, we had the best time trying out archery, and going rock climbing. A big thanks to the AMAZING Goldeye staff for leading such fun and safe programs.
Today our choice activities were tie dye and screen printing (these are still drying so no pictures yet), dodgeball and some water games in our lake. It is so amazing that our campers get to choose what they want to learn, or try, while here at camp. Sometimes they pick things that they know they are great at, and sometimes they try something completely new!
Tonight we are having a Steak BBQ - no, that is NOT a typo, that is really what we are having, and then will be getting to play a new to camp game called Hydro Pyro. It works like capture the flag, except you are trying to put out the other teams fire, with cups of water. I can't wait to share more about that tomorrow.
All the best from camp,
Kathleen Gurski/Quack Quack
