Overnight Camp 2: Day 1

Good Morning Camp Families,

We had an amazing first day at camp!

We spent time on the bus getting to know each other, and some of us even had a nap. By the time the bus got to camp, our campers were ready for camp!

Once we got to camp, it was full steam ahead. From a picture scavenger hunt, a snack of home made cookies, pineapple and grapes, followed by some really great high energy games (tag, dodgeball and more), and some more low energy games (braid making, rock-paper-scissors-balance).

Our campers adjusted right into camp life, by setting up their cabins, and working on a cabin contract with the other campers and staff they will be living with.

We had a great dinner of pork chops, rice, mixed veggies, and pasta salad. It was also a very special day, as one of our camper was celebrating a birthday!

Birthdays at camp mean one thing - IN THE LAKE!

At camp, if it is your birthday, you get to push one counsellor into the lake, fully clothed. Our lovely birthday camper choose our counsellor Domino.

The best part of this choice was that Domino had so far not been in the lake! To say the least, our campers LOVED this.

After pushing Domino in the lake, we had our opening campfire, with some amazing camper and staff performances.

Then it was off to bed.

It was a great first day at camp, and we are excited to share more with you as the days go on.

All the best from camp,

Kathleen Gurski/Quack Quack
