Overnight Camp 2: Day 2

Good morning from camp,

Yesterday was a fantastic day at camp! So fantastic, that our blog had to get posted today.

So many of our campers started their day with our Polar Bear Dip - a quick dip in the lake in the morning, before breakfast.

After breakfast, our campers spend time with their counsellor setting goals for their week, and their day. Our big goals board in the dinning hall helps campers track what goals they are working on, what other campers are working on, and what they have completed.

Our morning was spent working on team work skills with our new friends, in our social skills programs. Campers worked on problem solving in a group, and communicating with their peers. Our staff do an phenomenal job of choosing and planning activities that work well with our campers. We know that our campers sometimes aren't a big fan of large groups, so our staff will have them work on the same skills in small groups, doing different activities - why not build a fort?!

Our lunch was chicken fingers, fries and veggies. To say the least, our campers were very excited about these options.

After lunch, we had planned to go canoeing and hiking, however, the weather decided not to cooperate. We did build some boats that we will be racing once we get rid of the thunder and rain up here. Our campers are so creative, and made some really amazing boats.

In the evening we played a game of Capture the Flag - our campers all had a great time running and looking for the other teams flag.

After that, it was time for bed! Our campers were ready a good sleep last night, and when I went into a cabin around 9:30, I heard 3 boys snoring... in unison!

Well, back to all of the fun of camp for me!

All the best from camp,

Kathleen Gurski/Quack Quack
