From the moment we woke up, the sun has been shining. This has made for a splendid Canada Day here at Camp Amicus!
Our first activity today was a camp wide game of Elves Gold that introduced our Social Skills lesson on de-escalating conflicts and blowing off steam. In today's lesson, campers made stress balls out of balloons and play dough. Campers also played a variety of basketball games including bump, horse, and a few other fun games.
We had a pizza lunch today. All the food here has been delicious! Campers then played dodgeball games. They even took on the counsellors for a match. Campers greatly out numbered counsellors and they won by a lot. After dodgeball, we all did some problem solving activities that involved teamwork and cooperation.
We all got ready for our first swim. Swimming was a blast! All campers completed a swim test and then enjoyed time on the lake swimming and canoeing. We were definitely happy the sun was out for this activity!
After swimming, everyone was hungry and we enjoyed dinner with watermelon for dessert. Once dinner was over, everyone played capture the flag. We ended our evening with a roaring camp fire. A lot of fun was had by all at camp today and we are all excited for our pirate theme day tomorrow.
Take care,
Dori
