Day Camp 2 - Friday

Greetings from our final day of camp,

It was a great last day for all of us! We began with a morning Zones check in and a camp wide game. In honour of Pokémon Day, we played a Pokémon themed game in the style of a scavenger hunt that our head counsellors orchestrated. For today’s Social Skill, we talked about Compliments and the value of giving appreciation to others. After that, we had our Clubs (art club followed through with the Pokémon theme) before having a bit of free time before lunch.

After lunch was the famed Kangaroo Kourt. Campers have been submitting accusations against counsellors for the past week in hopes that they would be slimed. After much debate, it was deemed that Data was guilty for crimes against camp and he was taken out to the playground to be publicly slimed. For the rest of the day, his beard and hair were full of glitter.

In honour of the last day of Day Camp 2 (and the summer), we had our Awards Ceremony this afternoon. Every camper was given an individual award from their counsellors and had the opportunity to give Steps in the Right Direction in front of family and friends. The POLARIS program was also spoken of and the teens of this session were given their awards as well. We finished off with the slideshow and Kathleen gave information on Fall programming and year-round options for campers who aren’t quite ready to let go of camp. We ended the day with a rousing game of dodgeball and campers were sent home after many hugs and goodbyes.

Well my friends, it has been an honour to bring you the daily blog and photographs this summer. Remember that the slideshows of each week are available for you to view, and nothing would make me happier than to know you’re viewing them with the campers who starred in them. I hope that you had as much fun keeping up with all the goings-ons and activities as I did writing about them, and wish you an excellent year and many fond memories with the wonderful kids that I had the pleasure of spending time with over the last two months.

All the best,

Pippin
