Happy Friday! Though
the weekend is quickly approaching, we have had a busy day at camp!
After our daily Zones of Regulation check, we moved to
camp-wide game. We played Temple of Doom! In this game, four teams rotate
between running and throwing, with the running team avoiding dodgeballs to grab
bean bags. It is a veritable camp classic, but what camp-wide game isn’t?
Today’s Social Skill was Leadership. Our activities during
social skill were designed to demonstrate the effect that one person assuming a
leadership role can have on the entire group. Campers brainstormed good
qualities for a leader, and in counsellor Coulee’s social skill, took turns
leading a blindfolded teammate through an obstacle course.
Clubs came afterwards. Sports club played badminton, and cooking
club made pizzas from scratch! I hear that music club is working on a song to
share for the end of the week!
After a half an hour of free time, we ate lunch. Choice came
afterwards. Some campers made jewelry, some played backyard games such as British
bulldog, and some worked their way through an obstacle course, keeping a
balloon from hitting the ground the entire time. Two of our choice groups
joined together for a gym-wide game of dodgeball once the weather outside got
nasty.
Finally, our last choice option saw the camp room lights dimmed, relaxing music played, and face masks applied for the Spa choice. The wonderful Camp Amicus spa even provided complimentary hand rubs.
After choice, we gathered in the camp room for Steps in the
Right direction, and dispersed for our 2:6 Zones of Regulation check to end the
day.
