Today was a special day, as in the afternoon, we headed to
Southland Leisure Centre!
We began today with our Zones of Regulation
check-in in our 2:6 groups, and moved to camp-wide game afterwards.
We played Capture the Flag today, and by the end of it, the
score was 1 to 1. By this time, it was already quite hot, and we headed inside
for a snack before social skill.
Our social skill today was reading and responding to others’
emotions. This social skill has crossover to other skills we’ve previously
touched on such as yesterday’s skill, body language. This skill is valuable to
have in our everyday lives, and important to teach. Our daily Zones of
Regulation checks can also help us to understand each other’s emotions.
We had free time and then lunch afterwards, and boarded the
bus to Southland around 12:30. We made sure to change into our swimsuits during
free time, so that we would have the most time at the pool.
At Southland, once life jackets had been distributed to
those who needed them, we had access to all of the facilities, including the
wave pool, diving board, hot tub, and two water slides. Campers were assigned
to counsellors in accordance to swimming ability.
We got ready to head back to Foothills Academy around 2:45,
which, at the end of the day, left us just enough time for our Zones of
Regulation check-in before sign-out.
