Who's Got Talent!
Well, just as expected, last nights talent show was AMAZING! Between songs, dances, and skits, not only were we wow-ed by our performers, but we were wow-ed by the supportive attitude and cheering of the audience.
Every day at camp we start our days together the same way. In the morning we start with a Zone's check in, and then chat about what our goals of the day are. Staff and campers alike share what they are excited to try, and how they did on their goal the day before.
Today while sitting in with a group, I heard about how one camper needs to change their goal of making 2 new friends because 'its a bit too easy, everyone here wants to be friends.' I couldn't help but giggle. I have seen it and felt it, our campers are connecting with each other in an authentic way. I can safely say that each camper has made a friend here at camp.
This morning, our campers are well on their way with a social skills lesson about how to blow off steam, and doing some team work activities to practice many of their social skills (communicating, collaborating, working with others). It is fantastic watching them work together so collaboratively, and to watch them practice their new skills.
We are looking forward to our afternoon of High Ropes and the Team Swing this afternoon, as well as some Choice Activities (boating, nature programs, field games, dance party and art), and some free time.
Looking forward to sharing more of camp with you all.
Warmest Regards
Kathleen "Quack Quack" Gurski
P.S. we will be sharing a digital memory book at the end of camp with you all. So look forward to seeing even more pictures from camp!
