Hello from Week 2,
We had a great start this morning. The sun was shining as we packed up the bus at Foothills Academy and headed out to camp. After a brief stop in Red Deer to pick up more campers and use the restrooms, we arrived at Goldeye. Campers and counsellors headed out to do a photo scavenger hunt before meeting in the hall for a snack and introductions to the surroundings. Everyone then headed to the bus shelter to grab their belongings and headed to the cabins to settle in and bond with the cabin mates. As soon as everyone was comfortable in their bunks, counsellors drew up a cabin contract. This contract encourages campers to suggest rules for harmonious living so everyone feels safe and secure while at camp.
To start off the fun activities of the week, campers played a camp wide game called Human Tracker. After a few rounds (and plenty of running and laughing), campers had a bit of free time before going back to the dining hall for supper.
Campfire tonight was indoors but was still lots of fun! A few campers and counsellors stepped up the performances this week and a great time was had by all. Campers dispersed to the shower houses to get ready for bedtime routine.
Tomorrow is a very full day. We have a camp wide game, social skills, outdoor skills training, arts and crafts, choice programming, and capture the flag.
It’s going to be a great week!
Pippin
