Hello from Goldeye!
We’re very excited to be out at Goldeye for our first week of camp. The day started with a bit of a snag, as the bus to camp had a few issues on the way out. Luckily, we were still in the Foothills Academy parking lot and were able to head to the field for a camp wide game of Capture the Flag. Campers won the counsellors vs. campers match with excellent teamwork and a great defense strategy.
Afterwards, we met up underneath the flag pole for a snack and were happy to hear that the bus was up and running and ready for us to board.
There were no further issues as we headed to Goldeye (with a quick stop at Red Deer for a break and to pick up a few more excited campers) and we pulled into camp a bit late, but happy and ready to go. Another snack was handed out while we introduced the campers to their upcoming week of fun and then campers and counsellors headed out for a scavenger hunt. Before dinner, there was time for everyone to get settled in their cabins.
Cabin groups participated in a Group Contract so everyone has the chance share some of their ideas and expectations for the week, this helps our staff ensure all campers feel comfortable and happy throughout the week.
Soon we’ll be joining up in the hall for dinner and then afterwards is Campfire! Tomorrow we’ll start the day with Polar Bear Dip, a camp wide game and Social Skills, and then archery, arts and crafts, Choice programming, and capture the flag during the rest of the day.
Excited for the first night,
Pippin
