Greetings from camp,
The rain can’t get us down today as we strive to continue with our regular programming despite the weather. After a chilly Polar Bear Dip and filling breakfast, campers did a Zones check in on their way to camp wide game. Today’s game was Temple of Doom, a twist on dodgeball that involves campers having to retrieve bean bags from one end of the field while weaving through dodgeballs thrown by the other team. Campers had a quick snack while they made their daily goals, then did Blowing Off Steam as today’s Social Skills activity. The morning concluded with a bit of free time and lunch.
This afternoon we had Goldeye programming. Here at camp, we have a talented and skilled team of staff who allow campers to do activities such as the climbing wall, challenge course, and giant swing. Today campers alternated between the climbing wall and Jacob’s Ladder at the team challenge course, giving them the opportunity to use their Team Building Social Skill from yesterday. After a snack, Choice programming began.
Today the choices included games at the soccer in the field house, ukulele lessons, and arts and crafts that included button making, colouring, and animal head bands. By this time the rain had gotten a bit more intense so activities were moved indoors to keep everyone dry. Afterwards campers had a bit more free time before heading back to the hall to enjoy a hot meal.
Due to the rain, Hydro Pyro was postponed and campers instead played Cardio Pictionary. This twist on the classic game had campers running for clues and trying to get through a list of items to draw as quickly as possible. Bonus points were given to teams who showed off their dance moves. After a fun competitive round, campers were given a snack before heading back for bedtime routine at the cabins.
As usual, there’s a full schedule tomorrow. We have another session of Goldeye programming as well as a new selection of choices for Choice programs. The Social Skill tomorrow will be De-escalating Conflict, and we have the dance in the evening,
I might be too excited to sleep!
Pippin
