Overnight Camp 3 - Tuesday

Good morning!

It was another sunny morning here at camp. We started off with Polar Bear Dip, breakfast, and our Zones check in. After camp wide game, campers had a snack before making their daily goals and getting ready for Social Skills. Today we did Blowing Off Steam which encourages campers to find healthy and effective ways of releasing stress and tension, such as making stress balls. After a bit of free time, we headed to lunch. To keep us cool and relaxed during the hottest part of the day, we had an hour long rest period called Toes-Up Time. This allowed campers to read, socialize, and play games in their cabins before heading to Goldeye programming.

We have a lovely group of staff at Goldeye who give us the opportunity to use the ropes courses, and rock climbing wall. For the afternoon, campers met up with this group and rotated between team ropes course and the rock climbing wall, giving them the chance to use their team building skills from yesterday.

Today for Choice campers were able to choose two of the three activities, with one being today and the other taking place tomorrow afternoon. The choices were sculpture making, Chicken Run, or Music. As it was so hot today, we added a fourth choice to go swimming. A few campers also chose to participate in a special Amicus promotional video and met up with me to do interviews and talk about their camp experiences. That project will be in the works throughout the summer.

After supper, campers played capture the flag. After a couple of high energy rounds, campers were given a snack and headed to their cabins for bedtime routine. Tomorrow we have another session with Goldeye, Choice programming, a camp wide game, the dance, and we’re doing De-escalating Conflict as our Social Skill.

    Until then,
    Pippin

  1. How’s the water? Is it cold? Jeza looks a little shocked in her photo...could that be the morning Polar Bear dip? Looks like fun!

  2. Hey! Sorry for the delayed response. That was during polar bear dip, and our lake is fickle, some days it is warm, other days it is really cold!
