Overnight Camp 4 - Thursday

Greetings from Goldeye,

We had a wonderful last day of camp today. After our last Polar Bear Dip of the week and summer, we had a big breakfast and our usual Zones check in. Campers then headed to the field to play Pandemic, a game brought to us by a camper! Afterwards we made our daily goals, had a snack, and did today’s Social Skill. After Entering and Exiting Conversations, campers enjoyed a bit of free before lunch.

We had plenty of activities for campers to participate in this afternoon. They split up into four groups and cycled between horseback riding, hiking, science & slime, and waterfront activities. There was a bit of thunder in the distance so waterfront activities had an alternative for a short while but campers were eventually able to get into the lake. Once everyone had the opportunity to do every activity, we met up at the hall for Kangaroo Kourt.

Kangaroo Kourt is always a highlight of Camp Amicus. Throughout the week, campers can accuse counsellors of crimes against camp. For example, counsellors today were accused of “being too short” or “not letting me have a second piece of cake” with the most accused being put on trial. In the end, our very own fearless leader was found guilty of crimes against camp and was “slimed”.

After dinner we had our End of Camp Ceremony. Several plays, songs, and skits entertained us before camper awards were given out and campers and counsellors received their Polar Bear Awards.

Tomorrow is our final day at Goldeye. It’s going to be a busy day of packing before we load up the bus and head home…though not before we watch the weekly slideshow, courtesy of yours truly.

            See you soon,
            Pippin
