Hey there!
What a beautiful day to be at camp. This morning we did our Polar Bear Dip before having a great breakfast. Today was a camper’s birthday so he had the opportunity to push any staff member of his choice into the lake. After the campers watched him push Otter off the dock (she was laughing the whole time!) they did a Zones check in and headed to the field for camp wide game. Today we played Dress the Beast, which involves two teams trying to get across the other team’s side to steal an article of clothing from the enemy “beast”. That piece of clothing is brought back to their own side and put on their own beast. The team whose beast has all the clothes wins.
Campers then did their daily goals before doing today’s Social Skill, De-escalating Conflict. They then had a bit of free time before meeting at the hall for lunch. We had another post-lunch rest hour before joining the Goldeye staff and getting harnesses and helmets put on. Campers were able to do the adjoining activity to what they did yesterday; if they did the rock wall and giant swing yesterday, today they did the static course and zip line, and vice versa. After plenty of climbing, cheering, and teamwork, campers headed to Choice programming to do their second activity. Canoeing, soccer, and arts and crafts were the continued Choice program options from yesterday.
After a fantastic barbeque dinner and birthday cake, campers got to enjoy the camp dance. There was plenty of dancing, limbo, a photo booth, and fun music. After the final song, campers made their way to their cabins for bedtime routine.
Tomorrow may be our last full day of camp activities, but that doesn’t make it any less exciting. Besides another camp wide game and the Social Skill of Entering and Exiting Conversations, campers will be cycling through horseback riding, science & slime, hiking, and waterfront activities. We will also have the Camp Closing Ceremony, at which there will be plenty of performances, individual awards for all campers, and the Polar Dip Awards will be given out.
Until then,
Pippin
