Overnight Camp 4 - Tuesday

Hello from Goldeye,

It was another rainy morning but our spirits are still high. Polar Bear Dip was cancelled for today due to the chilly morning so campers were able to sleep in a bit. After breakfast, campers did their Zones check in and headed to camp wide game. Afterwards they made their daily goals, had a snack, and headed into Social Skills. Today we did Blowing Off Steam, which included a fantastic dance party among other skills. Campers then had a bit of free time before meeting in the hall for lunch.

Once we finished lunch, we had an hour long rest time called Toes-Up Time. This short break gives campers the chance to relax and socialize in their cabins so they’re ready for the many afternoon activities. For today, we met up with the Goldeye staff for our Goldeye Programming. This group of staff help the campers into harnesses and helmets and give them the opportunity to explore the many ropes and climbing courses throughout the camp. Today, one group headed to the climbing wall and giant swing while the other did the static course and zip line. Campers utilized the skills they learned in Team Building yesterday and did some great climbing, with quite a few campers making it to the top of the static course and having the chance to zip line back to the ground.

We said farewell to the Goldeye staff until tomorrow and campers went to their Choice programming. Today they were able to choose one of canoeing, soccer, and arts and crafts (tomorrow they will be able to do a second one) before heading to dinner. For camp wide game tonight we played Humantracker. After a few fun rounds, campers went back to the cabin area to do their bedtime routines.

Tomorrow is another full day and we’re even expecting better weather. Campers will be seeing the Goldeye staff again to do whichever course they didn’t do today (either the climbing wall and swing or the static course and zip line), participating in their second Choice activity, the camp dance, and the De-Escalating Conflict Social Skill.

    Stay tuned,
    Pippin
